Minutes of Pendleton Sportsman’s Club meeting on July 20, 2005

Call to order. Meeting opened by President Dennis Loftis at 1837.

Approved June’s minutes as published.

Report of the Secretary / Treasurer

- Club has 64 members. 63 Regular and one (1) Honorary member.

Was noted that the Club received thirteen (13) new members last month.

Club Dues as of April 1st will be $10 for the remained of year per the Clubs By-Laws

- Report current balance of $1058.82.

- Noted that the club owes Kellee McCann for purchasing club patches.

Committee Reports: (Committees to be determined)

Membership Committee. N/A

Programs Committee. N/A

House Committee. N/A

Buildings and Grounds Committee: Still searching for a permanent building. The club will continue to search for a permanent building but continue to use the present building of 25264.

Publicity Committee: Club Patches are now available; Club secretary, Steve Karns currently has them and will bring them to club functions for sale. The price of the patch is $5 each. The Union Tribune will be running an article about Pendleton Sportsman’s Club in the August 6th edition.

Game and Hunting Committee. N/A

Fishing Committee. Fishing is still available through Dana Wharf, for active duty Marines and Sailors on Wednesday and Thursday’s for only the price of license and tackle rental. Please contact Rob Shuford or Gary Walker for setting up an event, his contact information is on the clubs website.

Special Committee. N/A

Old and unfinished business

- New membership dues collected.

- The Club patches are available through the clubs Secretary / Treasure Steve Karns. The patches are for sale at the cost of $5 each.

Club membership cards have distributed. Members not present will be receiving their membership cards in the mail. If you have not received you membership card contact Secretary Steve Karns at stevekarns@hotmail.com.

Old and unfinished business (cont.)

- Rifle Site-in days will be scheduled for Saturday’s in August 27th and September 17th. The Rifle Site-in days deconflict with the Hunter Safety Courses scheduled.

The Club project of maintaining duck blinds have been approved and the work has begun. Mr. Yoder of the Resource Enforcement and Compliance Branch is going to purchase lumber for the club to build 5 new duck blinds. Please try to gather 2x4’s, plywood, 4x4’s, nails and other building materials to donate to the project. The work is to begin after September 1st.

The Club projects of maintaining the fishing areas around Lake O’ Neill and marking of the hunting areas have been submitted for approval from the base. After September 1st the club will be able to start work on the project. The reasoning for the later date is due to a Migratory Bird act.

- The Club still has free fishing through Dana Wharf for active duty Marines and Sailors. For more information or to set up the event log on to the website, go to Fishing news and click on the link to contact Rob Shuford or Gary Walker.

Guest Speaker, Mr. Vic Yoder Head, Resource Enforcement and Compliance Branch

- Mr. Yoder has set up training for Hunters Safety Course on base. The date is August 20, 2005. A copy of the flyer is posted on the Clubs website.

Base hunting permits are on sale at the Base Game Wardens office.

Deer archery season starts on September 17th and the deer tag exchange should be available around the August 12th timeframe.

- Club President Dennis Loftis made a request to Mr. Yoder to see about maintaining the road around the Stuart Mesa Ponds. Mr. Yoder said that is something that will also fall under the September 1st starting point.

- The club will get with Mr. Yoder in August to see exactly what areas around Lake Oniell are allowed to be cleared/ cleaned up to give fishing access.

- Civilians Positions at the Game Wardens station are available. Please inquire with the wardens at 760-725-3360

New Business

The Pendleton Sportsman’s club has received the License for use of land from the base. This solidifies the Club as an organization aboard the base.

The Club Officers will be meeting with the Base CG on August 8th. Please e-mail any suggestions you would like to have brought up to the Club Officers.

Next Club meeting will be on Aug. 9th, 2005 in building 25264 at 1830.
