Old and unfinished business
- Work on the clearing of the fishing areas around Lake O’Neill, Lake Pulgas, and Case Springs will be done at the end of the hunting seasons and before the deadline of March to comply with the Migratory Bird Act restrictions.
Guest speaker, Mr. Yoder, Head, Resource Enforcement and Compliance Branch
- Lobster season opened, the Game Wardens would like for anyone catching lobster to ensure that they are using the proper measuring technique.
- Deer season kicked-off last weekend and there were 28 deer taken in two days. 17 on Saturday and 11 on Sunday. Nobody was turned away, all “Potluckers” were able to get our both days. People that are drawn to hunt a certain day have from 4am to 5am to Check-out then the Potluck drawing will take place.
- The Game Wardens are very appreciative of all the help the Club Volunteers have supplied to the Wardens.
- There is a Northern area location for the people that live on the North side of the base to Check-out and go hunting from in the morning to prevent the excessive driving back and forth. The location for this Check-out is building 5231107.
- The Game Wardens should know whose been drawn and what areas are available for hunting by 1200 on Friday before the weekend hunt. Please call between 1200 and 2100 to see where you may have gotten drawn for.
- The last scheduled Hunter Safety Class was canceled due to unforeseeable reasons and will be rescheduled. The event is tentatively scheduled for 29 October. Please call the Game Wardens for further information.
New business
- There are a few changes being recommended to the Club’s Constitution and By-Laws and they will be published for review by the membership and a vote will be taken at the next meeting on 8th of November. Attendance by every member is encouraged at this meeting due to the changes and to vote.
- The same few Club members have been volunteering for the positions at the Warden’s Office Building (WOB). The Club members are asked to step up and volunteer for this duty. We the hunting community is reaping the benefits by having the evening hunt that we haven’t had since 2000. The volunteers can work for any amount of time they have available, two (2) hours or eight (8) hours, whatever they can accommodate. We need your help and support.
- Dennis is going to look into other Hunter Safety Classes that may be offered from off base resources. Any contact information if available will be posted on the Club’s Website.
- The Executive Committee will be meeting with Mr. Stan Norquist, Head, Natural Resources Department, and Colonel Navarre, Chief of Staff, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, on Wednesday, October 19, to discuss the new Hunting Program Base Bulletin.
-The next Club meeting will be held on November 8th at 1830 at building 25264.
