Minutes of Pendleton Sportsman’s Club meeting dated February 6, 2007
Call to Order. Meeting opened by President Dennis Loftis at 1832.
Approval of January’s minutes as published.
Report of Secretary/Treasurer (Dennis reported)
-Total member count is 61, 29 active duty / 32 retired military, DOD employees & civilians.
-Members need to keep their email addresses up to date! If you have a new email address notify Tom at tjohnson@osec.com or Aivars at jlberz@aol.com.
-Bank account information; balance is $1,563.13. Dennis paid $470.33 for NRA endorsed liability insurance with Lockton Risk Service.
Vic Yoder, Base Game Warden
-Passed out copies of Base hunting regulations for members to review for changes/recommendations.
-Passed out maps of the new Wardens Office Building (WOB), building 2648, which is located on warehouse row past Mechanized Museum. Phone number will be the same: 760-725-3360.
-Discussed buying a new meat cooler for the new location.
-Offered new WOB location for Club meetings and it was accepted by the Executive Board to have future Club meeting’s there.
Committee Reports
-Membership Committee. Passed out membership roster for members to initial and update their information. Dues can be paid at Club meetings or mailed in, see Club Website at http://thesportsmansclub.netfirms.com for mailing address.
-Buildings and Grounds Committee. Future Club meetings will be at the new Wardens Office Building (WOB), building number 2648.
-Publicity Committee. Nothing new to report.
-Fishing Committee
–Free fishing trips still available through the Dana Wharf Sportfishing. See Fishing News on the Clubs website for more information. POC is 2ndLt Curtis Williamson, contact him at curtis.williamson@usmc.mil, if interested. Active duty military can go for free throughout the week.
-SALT water report
-Not good at this time.
-FRESH water report
-Still slow until the water temperature warms up.
-Hunting Committee
-Dennis has contacted Wounded Warriors at Camp Pendleton and Balboa Naval Hospital to attend Green Head shoot on 10 February.
-Dennis described the upcoming Club pig hunt planned for 16-19 February 2007 at Vandenberg AFB. Dennis noted that we have two houses rented for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. Vic Yoder offered use of cooler to store pig’s taken for a few days.
-Project Committee
-Targets for the Green Head Hunt Club were installed last weekend and were appreciated by the Green Head Club. Thanks were noted for Don Roston, Jim Post, Aivars Berzins, Kurt Muller, Dave Boyer, and Wayne Taylor. A special thanks was given to Jim Post, Project Chairman, who made the targets, kept all the workers in line and was the key QA inspector.
Old and unfinished business
-The Club still needs to get members qualified as Range Safety Officers (RSO) and Officers-In-Charge (OIC) by the Base. Any Club member can receive the training and become qualified as an RSO/OIC. Please support your club by getting your RSO cards. Dennis handed out CD’s of RSO Distance Learning required training for members who cannot access it at home or on base.
-Green Head Hunt Club will sponsor the 2nd Annual Pendleton Sportsman’s Club Military Appreciation and Family Day on February 10, 2007. Families are encouraged to attend; everything is free except duck cleaning. Last years event was a great time. Sign-up for event is closed. We have 50 attendees and 30 shooters signed up.
-Rifle sight-in/familiarization fire dates for 2007 were decided to be in May and September both on a Saturday. Dennis will coordinate with Range 103.
-Dave McCarthy has the appreciation gifts for the Moote Group personnel who are sponsoring the Military Appreciation and Family Day. The Moote personnel will be recognized and the gifts presented at Green Head on the day of the shoot, February 10th.
-El Toro-Pendleton Archers, Inc. would still like to partner with Pendleton Sportsman’s Club to fix and maintain archery ranges on base. They are coordinating with MCCS to become recognized as a private club on base. Membership is FREE for Active Duty and Retired military. New business
-Base hunting bulletin will be posted on Club website for member’s to review and make recommendations for changes. Submit your recommendations to Dennis at: hollywoodusmc@earthlink.net no later than April 30th. He will collate the proposed changes and submit them to Vic.
-Laura Adams, wife of Marine Chris Adams, has volunteered to do the Pendleton Sportsman's Club web site. Laura’s email address: laura@lokatproductions.com.
