Base Game Warden’s Report
- Wildlife Technician Mike Tucker provided an excellent presentation on the Camp Pendleton Water Guzzlers. These were installed in the 1950s for the purpose of collecting water for quail, deer and other wildlife when there is no other source of water. A total of 63 were originally installed. To date 48 have been located but only 22 guzzlers are currently operationally functional.
- In order to clean out and refurbish all 48 of the guzzlers, Technician Tucker solicited the Pendleton Sportsman's Club for volunteers. The guzzler renewal effort will start in late July/August timeframe to preclude disturbing birds in their nests. It was estimated that the nesting season is over by the end of August.
