Committee Reports

  • Fishing Committee-Both Alex Berzins email:  Alex@sharkbitefishing.com and Gerard Charest email:  gcharest@cox.net are avid salt-water fishermen.  They have offered and would be glad to take out Active Duty Personnel and Club members off the coast of San Diego.  Contact them directly if you wish to make arrangements.
  • Hunting Committee
    • Pig Hunt is planned for Vandenberg AFB after the close of Deer Season on Camp Pendleton.  Please Email Dennis Loftis of preference dates and your affirmative interest.  Dates are TBD at this time.  Contact Dennis by email if you have any questions hollywoodusmc@earthlink.net.
    • Pheasant and Dove Hunt-Imperial Valley (10November 2007).  Ralph Eddins ralpheddins@aol.com will be finding out information on the Public Lands that in his estimation will have the greatest success rate and will post maps.
Old Business
  • Rifle Sight-in-Many members indicated their interest in having a rifle sight in at one of the Camp Pendleton ranges; the Pendleton Sportsman's Club is currently limited and still needs members qualified as Range Safety Officers (RSO) and Officers-in-Charge (OIC) by the Base.  If we do not have a qualified RSO & OIC a range cannot be scheduled.  The first step is to complete the Base on-line / CD training; these CDs are available on the Pendleton Sportsman's Club website, then complete the one day class given every Friday at Range Control.  The NRA RSO course is also required and the Pendleton Sportsman's Club will pay for the NRA RSO course.  Please contact Dennis by email if you have any questions, hollywoodusmc@earthlink.net.
  • Archery- If you wish to sharpen up your archery skills and receive some expert coaching, fill out the application for the El Toro-Pendleton Archers (ETPA) Club, on the Club website.  The scheduled 3D archery shoot at the SOI archery range on 07 October 2007 was a great success with ETPA Club members providing expert guidance and equipment for archery practice.  The Club provided a 14-target field range and a practice area with targets ranging from 10 to 80 yards.   The 3D targets were a challenge covering critters from Woodchuck to Elk.

The ETPA also sponsors 3D tournaments as well as charity events. The SOI archery range is open daily from dawn to dusk.  Membership in the El Toro-Pendleton Archers Club is free for all Active Duty and Retired military.  Contact Kurt Muller for more information: Kurt.Muller@disney.com.
