Call to Order. Meeting convened in the Wardens Office Building (WOB), Bldg 2648 at 1832.
Minutes: Approval of February 2008 Rev2 minutes as published.

Report of Secretary/Treasurer:
- Bank Balance: $745.85 as of the end of February 2008.
- Total member count is 74: 25 active duty, 32 retired military, 3 DOD employees, and 14 civilians.
Base Game Warden’s Report: Game Warden Vic Yoder promulgated information on:
- No archery hunting of coyotes or hunting near housing areas. May hunt coyotes in training areas (Rifle Areas)
- Deer herd numbers are calculated every three years by fly over in a linear pattern, counting every deer seen.
- Annual Synopsis: Deer seen, deer taken, weather, fire, road kill, etc. The herd is estimated at several hundred animals. This year’s deer harvest: 109, Average: 90, Low: 84
- Bison herd has grown exponentially since it was introduced to the base. Numbers have increased from the mid-teens to approximately 100-150+ The Game Warden’s staff will be studying the genetics and over all health of the herd. No Bison hunting in the near future.
- Looking at putting a buffer zone around guzzler to provide game access to drinking water without threat of being hunted.

- Pacific Coast Bait & Tackle, located on Coast Highway in South Oceanside is hosting a fishing derby in March and April. White Sea Bass fishing is good right now on the South side of Catalina Island.

Rifle Sight-in & Range Safety Officer Requirements: Many members indicated their interest in having a rifle sight in at one of the Camp Pendleton ranges; the Pendleton Sportsman's Club is currently limited and still needs members qualified as Range Safety Officers (RSO) and Officers-in-Charge (OIC) by the Base. If we do not have a qualified RSO & OIC a range cannot be scheduled.
- The first step is to complete the Base on-line / CD training; these CDs are available Base RSO Office, then; complete the one day RSO class given the 1st Friday of each month in the Base Main Theater. There is also a written test given at the Range Control Office on that Friday morning at 0700, then over to the class at the Base Theater for the RSO class.
- The NRA RSO course is also required and the Pendleton Sportsman's Club will pay for the NRA RSO course. Please contact Dennis by email if you have any questions. hollywoodusmc@earthlink.net
Archery - If you wish to sharpen up your archery skills and receive some expert coaching, fill out the application for the El Toro-Pendleton Archers (ETPA) Club, on the Club website. The Club has a 14-target 3D-field range and a practice area with targets ranging from 10 to 80 yards. The 3D targets are a challenge covering critters from Woodchuck to Elk. The ETPA Club members willingly provide expert guidance and archery equipment knowledge. The ETPA also sponsors 3D tournaments as well as charity events. The SOI archery range is open daily from dawn to dusk. Membership in the El Toro-Pendleton Archers Club is free for all Active Duty and Retired military. - There will be a Meet & Greet at the Mainside archery range on 22 March 2008 at 1000. Contact Kurt Muller for more information: Kurt.Muller@disney.com. The Mainside Archery Range is located at the bottom of Rattlesnake Canyon Road.
- If archers need to get their bow tuned up try Performance Archery (near Miramar)
Base Hunting Bulletin 1710. Pendleton Sportsman’s Club has an opportunity to review, make recommendations and propose changes to improve hunting on the Base. The Bulletin is divided into four sections: (1) Hunting Seasons, (2) Small Game Hunting Regulations, (3) Waterfowl Hunting Regulations, and (4) Deer Hunting Regulations. The Base-hunting bulletin will also be posted on the club website for members to review and make recommendations for changes. Please submit your changes to Dennis, hollywoodusmc@earthlink.net no later than March 24. Dennis will collate and submit to Vic Yoder for consideration.

Fort Hunter Liggett: Wayne Taylor is going to Fort Hunter Liggett 29 March 2008 to scout out opportunities for hunting. Wayne will provide a full report at the April meeting.
